WHO/O’s statement of support for clinics facing closure in Ohio

Abortion clinics in Ohio are faced with threat of closure due to state policies that require clinics to have a patient-transfer agreement with a private hospital. Our legislators are placing politics above women’s health, and, as result, both Toledo and Cincinnati may lose their only remaining clinics, making Cincinnati the largest metropolitan area in the U.S. without an abortion provider.

As we enter the final quarter of 2015, Women Have Options is continuing our financial support to patients of Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio, Women’s Med Center of Cincinnati & Dayton, and Capital Care Network of Toledo. WHO/O is Ohio’s only statewide abortion fund, and we will continue supporting clinics as they fight these burdensome, unnecessary state regulations that have nothing to do with protecting patient safety and everything to do with outlawing abortion. Legislators made these laws, not doctors.

The following is WHO/O’s statement of support sent to clinics fighting to remain open:

Please know we support you during this difficult time as you fight against burdensome, unnecessary state regulations. We are sending the fourth quarter grant with hope that you will continue serving clients indefinitely. If for some reason you are unable to operate for the entire fourth quarter, we ask that you please let us know; return unused Women Have Options funds, if they exist; and still send an end-of-quarter report, though we will understand if it arrives later than the regular deadline. You have our unwavering support as you provide much-needed services to the community.
Our mission is to provide financial assistance to women so they can afford their reproductive choice. Thank you to each and every supporter of Women Have Options and to the clinics and staff who make choice a reality.
